AACMCA Membership

There are multiple levels of membership the two most common is an active member or a superior member.

Active members include any professional in the health information management profession that meets some general qualifications.  This level of membership is intended for those who are interested in becoming certified in a medical coder auditor specialty but has not met specific advanced criteria. For example, a coder working in RA/HCCs who has not had specific training.  The cost of an active membership is $20.00 for a period of 12 months.
A superior member is reserved for those who have passed more specific requirements and imparts voting rights. The specific requirements, for example, in Risk Adjustment/HCC's would be to pass the MARSI/AHIMA coder/auditor course. Becoming a superior member also imparts certification in that sub-specialty, for example, CMCA-HCC for those that have passed the coder/auditor course.
Having passed similar courses or having a volume of auditor experience and passing the final exam of the MARSI/AHIMA course may be qualification as determined by the commission on certification of AACMCA. There are specific continuing education requirements to maintain Superior Membership of 15 hours per year of approved CEUs.  The cost of an superior membership is $50.00 for a period of 12 months.

More sub-specialty certifications will be coming soon.
